Boulder City, Nevada

While you're in Vegas, chances are you just might check out the Hoover Dam. Boulder City is a fun place to check out on your way to this modern marvel. We enjoyed a visit there after a trip to the Valley of Fire. We made a day of adventure outside of town, taking a huge loop to see lots of places in one day. From the Valley of Fire, we ventured on to a drive around Lake Mead to the Hoover Dam, and, eventually, Boulder City. This quaint little town, which is, of course, home of the Hoover Dam, features sweet little boutiques, antique stores, and the most darling ice cream shop you've ever seen. Boulder City is booming with history, and you may even catch a glimpse of Big Horn Sheep while you're there.

Though we didn't see any sheep, we did have a great time exploring this sweet little town. We started out with lunch at The Dillinger. They had the most delicious burgers and nachos! The weather in April was nice enough for us to sit outside on the covered patio, which gave us the opportunity to map a plan on where to walk to next. From lunch, we walked to several nearby antique shops. There is no shortage of shop in this little town, and you're sure to find something you don't need can't live without. For me, it was the cutest little pineapple brooch. Hello, I live for pineapples! :) Couldn't pass that up, especially since I knew it would be easy to get back home. Anyway, we visited 5 or 6 shops passing interesting sculptures on corners, quaint buildings, and just enjoying the general small town feel. We eventually made our way to the main area where we visited the famous Back In Thyme Antique Shop, and made a stop in Grandma Daisy's for candies, caramel apples, bottled sodas, and ice cream by the scoop.

It is seriously such a dreamy place to visit, and a breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle from the Las Vegas Strip. If you're venturing to the Hoover Dam, I highly recommend taking a turn into Boulder City, Nevada if for Grandma Daisy's if nothing else!
