Grand Canyon

One thing about Las Vegas I don't think a lot of people realize is there is SO, SO much more to the city than drinking and gambling. I can definitely attest to that as we did a TON of sightseeing in Sin City sans bars & casinos. One of my favorite Sin City adventures was a helicopter ride through the Grand Canyon & a boat ride along the Colorado River.

Our tour happened to fall on not only our anniversary, but Easter Sunday as well. It made the entire trip all the more special! We selected a tour that offered not only the helicopter tour, but a trip to the Grand Canyon Skywalk, which I'll share more about tomorrow. Now, the Grand Canyon is quite a bit away from the Las Vegas Strip via car, but by helicopter we were there in no time!

We started our very early in the morning with a drive to a small airport near Boulder City, Nevada. There we boarded a helicopter (my first ever helicopter ride) for a ride to the Grand Canyon. Our flight took us over Lake Mead, vast desert, and the beautiful Grand Canyon and eventually to the Hualapai Indian Reservation in northwest Arizona. We landed at the base of the canyon where we enjoyed a boat ride along the Colorado River.

It was amazing to see such two contrasting view of the canyon, from above and below. It really gave way to seeing just how massive, detailed, and absolutely incredible it is. The canyon is certainly grand! It's hard to even imagine it's sheer size even with photos. I think it's a place you just have to see yourself. And to think, we only saw a short bit of the entire canyon that is 277 miles long!

After our trip to the base of the canyon, our pilot flew us to the near by Skywalk canyon where we enjoyed unprecedented views of the Grand Canyon from a glass floor! I didn't want to bombard you with photos so, I'm excited to share more of that with you tomorrow. See you then!
